Will The Testament of Sister New Devil Season 3 happen?
The original light novel was written by Tetsuto Uesu with illustrations by Nekosuke Ōkuma. The first volume was published by Kadokawa Shoten, under the label Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko, on September 29, 2012; as of April 1, 2018, a total of thirteen collected volumes have been published. A manga adaptation by Kashiwa Miyako was serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine from May 25, 2013 to April 26, 2017.
The various chapters have been collected in nine tankōbon volumes, published between 26 October 2013 and 25 July 2017. In North America the series was licensed to Seven Seas Entertainment. Another manga adaptation, titled The Testament of Sister New Devil: Storm! and drawn by Fumihiro Kiso, has been serialized in Hakusensha’s Young Animal Arashi from February 7, 2014 to May 6, 2016. The various chapters have been collected in five tankōbon volumes, published between 29 September 2014 and 29 August 2016. In North America the rights were also acquired by Seven Seas Entertainment.
Announced in the May 2014 issue of Kadokawa Shoten’s Monthly Dragon Age, an anime adaptation, produced by Production IMS and directed by Hisashi Saitō, aired from January 7 to March 25, 2015. The opening and closing themes were, respectively, “Blade of Hope” by sweet ARMS and “Still Sis” by Kaori Sadohara.
An OVA episode was published as an attachment to the eighth volume of the light novels on July 1, 2015. In various parts of the world, the episodes were streamed in simulcast by Crunchyroll, while in Australia and New Zealand the streaming and home video distribution rights were acquired by Madman Entertainment.
A second season entitled The Testament of Sister New Devil BURST, also broadcast and subtitled by Crunchyroll, aired from October 9 to 11 December 11, 2015. Another OVA episode was released alongside the manga’s seventh volume limited edition on January 26, 2016.
The future of The Testament of Sister New Devil anime is quite uncertain at this moment, but the good thing is that it is not because there’s no interest or because there’s a lack of material. Namely, due to a lack of information in general, we have absolutely no clue how far the third season might go if it even happens. One day, out of the blue, the student Basara Tōjō is informed by his father Jin Tōjō that he will marry again and that his new mother, who is currently abroad, will bring two daughters into the marriage: Mio and Maria Naruse. They move in with them immediately and after a few initial difficulties, he and she get along quite well.
When his father also has to leave due to his job as a photographer and Basara is alone with his two new sisters, both reveal themselves to be demons: Mio is the future demon queen and Maria is a succubus and Mio’s bodyguard. Maria says that she only planted the memories of his future wife in Basara’s father and they will now erase Basara’s memories of them to make Basara’s house their new home.
However, this backfires as Basara, as well as his father who knew about all this, are outcast members of the hero clan. His father tells him that Mio is the daughter of the previous Demon King and is being pursued by the current one.
Basara therefore decides to recognize Mio and Maria as sisters anyway and to protect them from other demons and the hero clan. At Mio’s school, to which he was transferred, he meets his former childhood friend, Yuki Nonaka, who was assigned by the hero clan to watch over Mio and is now torn between her love for Basara and her loyalty to her clan.
