    I am too excited to start this year, i have so many wonderful things happened on 2013, one of the best is my baby. She is making my day and year so meaningful. We celebrated this new year with cakes, poppers and snows prays to make maha's first new year a snap. 2014 is here, and i am sharing you a wonderful cake recipe to start this year.This cake is so moist, flavourful and pudding like. I am sure you will love it.

    Ingredients for Orange Pudding Cake Recipe

    • All Purpose Flour / Maida - 1 cup / 120 grams
    • Baking Powder - 1 tsp
    • Baking Soda - 1 tsp
    • Salt - ¼ tsp
    • Soft Unsalted Butter - 50 grams
    • Sugar - 1 cup / 200 grams
    • Vanilla Essence - 1 tsp
    • Fresh Orange Juice - ¼cup / 60 ml / 2 fluid ounces
    • Milk - ½ cup / 120 ml / 4 fluid ounces
    • Orange zest - from 2 oranges (1 tbsp)

    How to Make Eggless Orange Pudding Cake Recipe

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 Degree C / 360 Degree F.
    2. Grease a baking tin with butter and dust it with flour, tap off the excess flour and set it aside till use.
    3. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt together till it is well combined. Set it aside till use.
    4. Now take butter, sugar and vanilla in a bowl and cream them well.
    5. Now Add in half the milk and mix them around.
    6. Add in flour mix and give them a stir.
    7. Pour the remaining milk and orange juice and mix them well.
    8. Fold in the orange zest as well.
    9. Now bake it in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 mins till a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
    10. Let it cool down, now invert the cake. Slice and serve.

    • 1 cup / 120 grams All Purpose Flour / Maida
    • 1 tsp Baking Powder
    • 1 tsp Baking Soda
    • ¼ tsp Salt
    • 50 grams Soft Unsalted Butter

      Hi Aarthi,

      I have tried your eggless christmas cake and dates cake with good results and today I tried your eggless orange cake. It tastes fantastic but it sunk in the middle while baking and got burnt and stuck at the bottom. I had to scoop out the cake with a spoon. The only change that I had made was to switch milk with water. Also, I only baked it for 30 minutes because it was already looking runt. It was cooked though. Your oven times have worked for me before so I am not sure what went wrong. I intend repeating this recipe with milk but do you have any ides about what could have happened? Thanks.

      @Anonymous I think adding water must been the mistake. Because milk has some fat content in it and water dont have that. So use milk next time and let me know how it turned out.

        I tried this recipe with milk, but had the same problem, flat in the middle, almost burnt in 30 min. Also could you suggest the pan size, I used a 4*4.
        Will love to try it again.

      @NishaNo you have to use baking powder. baking powder and baking soda are different in their characters.

      I tried this wonderful recipe and it came out yummy.However it was a bit chewy.Any idea why?If the quantity is lesser how much does the baking time reduce to?

      I have tried many of your recipes & it has come out well. Thanks a lot for posting such good recipes. Last week for the first time I baked cup cakes. It came out well. I used the silicon moulds. I have a small doubt. The baking tray which I bought is a bit bigger size. So if I keep that tray in my micro wave , therez no space for rotation. So this time while baking kept only the moulds. Just wanted to know will there be a problem if the tray don't rotate? How can I use the tray?

      @Rajani MenonIf you are using microwave then the rotating motion will make it cook evenly. But if your cake is cooked properly then it wont be a problem i think. But i would suggest you to invest in another pan which fits your microwave so it is safe to use.

      which baking tin have you used for making this cake? I mean how many litres is it? I have a borosil bake and serve 0.8l. I am confused how much kg will I get 1/4kg or 1/2kg? can u please answer my doubts?

      I tried this recipe... i am not much of a cook... but this turned out yummy and really good and this was my first attempt in baking... i suggest that this is a must try cake...i reduced the sugar to 100 gms as i felt 200 is way too much and will be really sweet. my in laws are diabetic.. thats why.. anyway thanks... keep posting...

      @ShebaYes u have to use both of them. And you can use oil, but butter gives more flavour

      @UnknownYou have to grate only the orange part of the orange.. if you grate white part then the cake will turn bitter..You can skip it if you dont like..

      Tried today and tasted really good. But the cake got sticked to the pan so I couldn't invert the whole cake. I coated the pan with flour after oil. Is that a problem? Or the butter was not mixed well small lumps were there... May be that caused the issue? Couldn't slice the cake. Pls tell me a solution I am planning to try this out for my husband's office party this Friday coz I love the taste...

      Forgot to say this... My cake got baked in 25min in 360 deg f preheated... Should it be stay longer as u said for 40min to get the whole cake without disaster?

      @Breeze Pthis cake will be like a sticky and pudding like cake. I think the flour is not mixed in properly so it had formed small lumps.You can sieve the flour well before adding into the cake batter. nd if your cake is done in 25 mins and if you are sure about it, then you dont over bake.
