10 Dirt Cheap American Supercharged Cars You Can Buy Used (2024)

Forced induction devices are arguably the quickest and easiest tools to use to extract more power from an engine, as the extra air they feed into the engine allows it to produce more grunt. While turbochargers are included in many consumer vehicles in 2024, superchargers tend to only feature on high-performance offerings like muscle cars.

HotCars therefore decided to find 10 of the cheapest used American cars on the market that have a supercharger, ranked from most to least expensive.

How we made our model selection: HotCars looked exclusively at used supercharged vehicles made by American manufacturers to populate this list. Pricing information was sourced using trusted consumer feedback provider Kelley Blue Book.

Despite being by far the most expensive vehicle on this list, the 2007 Shelby Mustang GT500 is still great value for the money. Just over $16,000 for a supercharged muscle car sporting a Shelby badge should be a bargain in anyone's book.

Its 5.4-liter V8 deposits a brutal 500 hp to the rear wheels, which the driver can control to some extent via the six-speed manual transmission. The fact it comes with SVT-tuned suspension, and THAT racing stripe, of course, is the cherry on top.

First up is a largely forgotten Cadillac super sedan, the STS-V. This model tends to live in the shadow of its smaller CTS-V sister, though it really shouldn't as its 4.4-liter supercharged V8 makes a commanding 469 hp and 439 lb-ft of torque. With used prices in the range of $9,100 per KBB, the STS-V represents a great choice for gearheads who want to live the muscle car life in luxury.

The 2004 Chevy Impala SS is a cheap supercharged sedan that makes a tasty 240 hp courtesy of General Motors' 3.8-liter V6, which found a home in several other vehicles in the early 2000s. The Impala's bigger frame means it takes 6.8 seconds to hit 60 mph, though this is still respectable for a cheap sedan.

It also gets a tuned performance suspension alongside stronger stabilizer bars, while front brake cooling ducts have been added to keep the disc brakes at optimal temperature at all times.

The 2005 Chevy Cobalt SS is the only vehicle with a 4-cylinder to feature in this top ten, though it does at least feature an engaging five-speed manual transmission.

The supercharged 2.0-liter unit is pretty peppy with its 205 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque assisting it to reach 60 mph in a sporty 6.0 seconds. With an average used price of $4,031, the Cobalt SS represents an affordable coupe that graces your life with a supercharger whine.

These Monte Carlos also come loaded with Chevy's performance suspension setup, which gives it more dynamic handling than the standard SS.

You'll also struggle to keep up with sports cars on a fast road as these Rivieras were only available with a four-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

Here's Why Superchargers Are Making A Big Comeback Today

Turbos weren't new technology by this point, but they had been largely overshadowed by the use of superchargers beforehand.

This gets you 240 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, plus a brisk 0-60 sprint time of 6.6 seconds. We haven't quite seen the last of this consumer champion engine just yet though, as it locks out the top two places in this ranking.

The cheapest used supercharged car on the market in 2024 is the 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. The two-door coupe makes 240 hp courtesy of GM's 3.8-liter supercharged V6, though don't expect a pure driver's experience as it has a 4-speed automatic transmission and FWD.

While not one of the more valuable and rarer Grand Prix models available, the lack of attention you'll get from the understated design will allow you to relax en route to your favorite driving road.
